Introduction to CICAF
China International Cartoon & Animation Festival(CICAF)is a state-level and international cartoon and animation industrial festival, cosponsored by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television and Zhejiang Provincial Government and listed as one of eight key-supported cultural exhibition projects in the “Cultural Development Program of China in the 11th Five-Year Plan”. CICAF consists of the Opening Ceremony of China International Cartoon & Animation Festival, China International Cartoon and Animation Industrial Expo (CICAIE), International Cartoon and Animation Competition for the “Monkey-King” Awards, China International Cartoon and Animation Industry Summit Forum, China Cosplay Super Grand Ceremony etc.. The annual festival held at the end of April and in early days of May in Hangzhou has been successfully celebrated for three sessions up to now. CICAF gradually creates the stage for communication of international cartoon and animation industry and the window for showing the achievement of cartoon and animation industry in China, in which the evolution of Chinese cartoon and animation is displayed.
The logo of China International Cartoon & Animation Festival looks like a person forging ahead, consisting of irregular dots in different sizes, meaning that the festival is a grand assembly which focuses on cartoon and animation, also enlarges eyesight and strengthens exchanges among cartoon and animation fans from different countries. The person forging ahead symbolizes the prosperous future of China International Cartoon & Animation Festival. Different colors express the colorfulness and abundant contents of the festival.

The mascot “LELE” in cartoon & animation festival is originated from “pilgrimage to the west” the deity Sun Wukong which is well familiar to and loved by Chinese. It is combined with traditional artistic forms such as woodblock drawing, new-year picture and leather-silhouette show, and added with modern cartoon components, lively describing a little monkey standing on the lotus pedestal.
