Brief Introduction to Hangzhou
Hangzhou, the designated place for China International Cartoon & Animation Festival(CICAF), becomes the industrial capital of cartoon and animation in China.
 Hangzhou is the provincial capital of Zhejiang province as well as the political, economic, science and education and cultural center. Located in the south of Yangtze Rive Delta, western end of Hangzhou Bay, lower reaches of Qiantang River and southern beginning of Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, it is the key central city in Yangtze Rive Delta and the hub of communications in Southeast China. The population of the whole city is more than 6.6 million and the central geographical coordinate of the city proper here is north latitude 30°16' and east longitude 120°12'. Hangzhou is encircled by rivers, water ways, lakes and mountains, of which the west, the middle and the south belong to the low mountain and hills of the west and middle of Zhejiang Province, the northeast belongs to the northern plain of Zhejiang Province with rivers, water ways and lakes densely covered and plentiful products. Hangzhou has always been honored the land of fish and rice, the silk capital and the “Paradise On Earth”.
 Hangzhou is one of the top 10 cities of synthetically economic strength in China. In 2006, the total output value of the whole city was up to 344.1 billion yuan, the total output value per person was $ 6505. From the year 2004 to 2006, the World Bank elected Hangzhou No.1 of “the Cities with Best General Investment Environment in China” for 3 years in succession, the “Forbes” magazine voted Hangzhou No.1 of “Ranking List of the Best Business Cities in Chinese Mainland” for 3 years in a row. Hangzhou is the important scenery and tourism city over the country and the city well-known for history and culture. With long history and over 2200-year of establishing city history, Hangzhou was the capital of Wuyue State of Five Dynasties and Ten States and Southern Song. The longest artificial canal-Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and Qiantang River famous for its big tide pass through the city. West Lake, one of the most beautiful lakes in China, circled by green mountains of three sides shows fantastic scenery during the four seasons. Rich material for cartoon and animation work is derived from deep historical and cultural sediments and the local customs. With two state cartoon and animation industrial bases, three state cartoon and animation educational bases, over 60 enterprises engaged in cartoon and animation game and annual output of over 5,000-minute cartoons, Hangzhou is now one of the most developed regions in cartoon and animation industry in China.
