International Cartoon and Animation Competition
for the “Monkey-King” Awards

  The International Cartoon and Animation Competition of “Monkey-King” Awards in China International Cartoon & Animation Festival is a most authoritative and influential event in China in cartoon and animation circle supported by officially and unofficially. The competition revolves around the concept of “new thought, new art, new technology and new industry”, sets up awards on cartoon and animation and relative works. Actively encourage the creative works, bring out domestic excellent works and talents by the exchange and appraisal between Chinese and foreign cartoon works, and promote the development of creative works in China. In the course of the International Cartoon and Animation Competition of “Monkey-King” Awards, we insist on the appraisal standard of specialization and internationalization, basing upon the domestic cartoon circumstance, considering the global condition. Various awards shall be appraised in the yearly festival and the  “Monkey-King” Awards symbolizing the supreme honor in cartoon and animation industry will be awarded to the person concerned.

  International Cartoon and Animation Competition for the “Monkey-King” Awards has been held for three sessions with strong response. Total works involved in the 3rd “Monkey-King” Awards surmounted 3000 and authors came from 23 different countries and regions and over 30 provinces, cities and autonomous regions in China. The top-grade award in China cartoon and animation industry, “Monkey-King” Awards, is coming into being.

   The 2008 “Monkey King” Award of the 4th China International Cartoon and Animation Festival hereinto issues the public notice for collecting the works in public.

   This “Monkey-King” Award consists of two parts, the Comprehensive Award and the Single Award. Thereinto the Comprehensive Award is classified Animated Series, Feature Animated Films, Short Animated Films, Academic Animated Films, Cooperative Animated Films, Foreign Animated Films, Comics, Special Jury Award; the Single Award is classified the Best Character of Animated Film, the Best Character of Comic, the Best Story of Animated Film, the Best Story of Comic, the Best Music of Animated Film, the Best Voice Acting of Animated Film. The nominated award is subordinate to the said award each. The total prize reaches RMB 2,020,000 yuan. Warmly welcome all the producers, directors, authors, students and those fiends plunging in the field of animated film and comic to participate in the competition.

   The deadline for overseas: March 18, 2008, the domestic deadline: April 14, 2008.

   “Monkey-King” Award in this session establishes a jury with initial jury and final one. The quantity of jury members exceeds twenty, among them are about 30% foreign expert members. The jury shall carry out the basic principles of “peace, harmony, development, healthy and promotion”, as well as the one of “fairness, justice and public”and the standards of “high quality, high character and high level” to determine the award. The period of initial appraisal for foreign works: March 20 to March 26, 2008, the period of initial appraisal for domestic works: April 16 to April 23, 2008, the reappraisal period: April 24 to April 26, 2008.

   At the awarding ceremony, the “Monkey-King” Award will be revealed to publicize the name list of the award owners in the course of the 4th CICAF, as well as the exhibition and showing of the nominated works, exhibition activities and thematic cartoon exhibition and showing activities.
