Nigel Mairs

Nigel Mairs is programme leader for Motion Graphics BA (Hons) and Senior Lecturer on the Animation BA Programme at Edge Hill University.

Nigel graduated from Liverpool Polytechnic with a First class Hons BA in Graphic Design specialising in animation, in 1984 and in 1987 graduated from the Royal College of Art with a Masters in Animation. He started teaching graphic design and animation at John Moores University in 1987 becoming head of animation in 1989 before taking up a post as full time faculty in animation and head of department in Film and Animation at The School of the Museum of fine arts in Boston, USA.

Since his first degree he has worked freelance in the design, animation and film industries and maintained professional practise in independent film production, fine and interactive arts.

His academic research focuses upon communication in animation, visual language, convergent and multi media animation production. Through independent professional practice he works across the fields of animation, fine arts, short film production and digital installation with national and international exhibitions and screenings.
