The construction of China Cartoon & Animation Museum (hereinafter referred to as “Museum”) is the decision of great importance on creating the “City of Cartoon & Animation” and the National Culture and Creative Industry Center formulated by Hangzhou Municipal Communist Party Committee and the People’s Government of Hangzhou Municipality. The main building works of the Museum has recently been under construction. In order to satisfy the construction progress, encourage cartoon and animation enthusiasts and professionals from all sectors of society to give full play to their creativity and imagination energetically, we, hereby, call for the exhibition planning conceptual design programs contributed by outstanding global cooperation teams. The winning teams and individuals will enjoy the priority of working as the cooperation teams of the further detailed design and exhibition arrangement of the Museum. Now the notice concerning the collection information is released as follows;

1. Conceptual design program of overall structure of exhibition planning. The major task is to present the conceptual design program of overall structure of exhibition planning, with combination of the existing building plan design achievement and geomorphic features, in accordance with the objective requirements, function positioning of Cartoon & Animation Museum and the specific connotation of cartoon and animation, including spatial layout, overall exhibition structure, service model system, modern technical support, etc. The design philosophy should take into account the foresightedness, rationality, feasibility, artistic quality, experience features, unique dazzling brightness, agility and sense of experience of cartoon and animation. The appropriate use of the exhibition language should be focused either. Moreover, a variety of modern demonstration means such as the visual image technology, interactivity operation technology, information network technology and robotic technology are to be taken fully.

The works that the designers present cover the theme plan of the overall structure (including the design description), interior planning and design, project layout, exhibits arrangement, visiting flow lines, decorative renderings, lighting and material utilization renderings, technical support and detailed description chart of key projects with design characteristics (a number of).

The design description covers mainly: the elaboration of the overall design idea, design style, function analysis and technical support. Illustrations are recommended.

Drawing requirement: first, in accordance with the drawings in the appendix, the designer re-plans and designs the overall exhibition layout, presents the overall interior planning drawings, project layout, exhibits arrangement, visiting process design drawing and renderings of material and lighting utilization (one for each); second, the designer presents the arrangement drawings, three visual drawings and detailed drawings of environment facility and guide system; third, the designer presents the detailed drawings of important nodes; and fourth, the designer presents the renderings of design, lighting and special materials utilization.

Requirement for color renderings: first, the overall renderings; second, the interior renderings; and third, the exhibition renderings.

2. Conceptual design program of special function-oriented zones for exhibition planning. With its major task of combining the success of the existing building design and the geomorphic features of the Cartoon & Animation Museum, in accordance with its objective requirements, the functional orientation of the Museum and the specific connotations of cartoons and animation, the major task for designers is to present the designs of the six special function-oriented zones (contents) of cinema, theatre, cartoon landscape restaurant, multi-functional showroom, electronic reading center and outdoor island space, including spatial segmentation, interior decoration, equipment arrangement, service model and technical support.

The designers can make a selection of any special zone or several special zones to conduct the design plan. The special zone design focuses on the creative conceptual design. Main work to be submitted includes color utilization, style positioning, interior design illustrations, themed creative plans and interior plane renderings.

The design description covers mainly: the special zone’s design elaboration, design style, function analysis and technical support. Illustrations are recommended.

Drawing requirement: first, the general plan and the landscape sectional view; second, the building function plan, ceiling drawing and sectional and elevation view (the ceiling drawing is not necessary for the outdoor landscape); and third, the detailed drawings of important nodes.

Color rendering requirement: first, the general renderings and second, the interior renderings.

Presentation of exhibition renderings (the creative conceptual design renderings with characteristics of the Cartoon & Animation Museum are presented for the special non-exhibition zones, such as the renderings of interactive amusement of the outdoor space design on the island)

3. New golden ideas of exhibition planning creativity and innovation. With combination of the existing building plan design achievement and geomorphic features of the Cartoon & Animation Museum, in accordance with its objective requirements, function positioning and the specific connotation of cartoon and animation, the major task for designers is to present the design proposals full of creative and innovation, which may cover various fields of the partial exhibition idea, environment atmosphere setting, service model innovation, technology application support, logo and VI system, etc.

Design requirement: the works that the contestants submit should cover mainly the illustrations of the creative description design, effect show and specific application in any form of expression.
